Search for “fisherwoman” on Google, and the first question that pops up in the “People also ask” section is “Is there such a word as fisherwoman?” This doesn’t surprise Tanner Saraspe, the founder of Saraspe Seafoods. Growing up in San Diego...
The Saraspe family has been servicing the San Diego area since the early 50s. The Saraspe family’s fleet was established in 1952, this was the year Lauro built his first skiff. One Spot Prawn – Two Dishes Nigiri and Ama Ebi Miso Rob Ruiz is not only one of the best sushi chefs in San Diego, but he also is a strong advocate for sustainable seafood and zero waste practices. Tanner Saraspe doesn’t dine out much. Late nights don’t mix well with a fisher’s early morning schedule, but when she does, it’s often at Juniper and Ivy.
Her choice of eatery is no coincidence. Saraspe is part of the third-generation fishing family that supplies the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant with local seafood like spiny lobster, halibut, bluefin tuna, and California spot prawns.
